Ehthlateese Village Wellness Center
As part of the ongoing revitalization of the Historic Ehthlateese Village, the Uchucklesaht Tribe engaged Tectonica to construct a new Wellness Center, creating infrastructure for their citizens living in and returning to the community. The building design includes a reception area, exercise room, nurses exam room, kitchen, multi-purpose area and multiple office spaces.
The project site is located on the Kildonan Inlet at the south end of Henderson Lake, known as the wettest place in North America. The remote site and significant weather constraints demanded unique solutions to meet the design and construction schedule. The combined design process and construction was completed in 1 year with the building achieving and energy rating exceeding Step 4 of the Building Code.
Work completed during construction includes:
- New hydro, water and septic connections to the existing system
- New solar power system
- New variable flow refrigerant heat pump system
- Construction of a new Recreational Vehicle site
