Cowichan Urgent and Primary Care Centre
Located at 930–950 Government Street in Duncan, the Cowichan Urgent and Primary Care Centre project involved the construction of a new two-storey, 10,800 square foot wood-framed healthcare facility leased to Island Health upon completion. The purpose-built centre was designed to accommodate a range of clinical and diagnostic functions, including examination and consultation rooms, counselling areas, reception and waiting spaces, staff offices, and support amenities. Dedicated X-ray and ultrasound suites were incorporated to enhance diagnostic services available to the community.
The project included full site development and servicing, structural and foundation construction, completion of the building envelope, installation of mechanical and electrical systems, and interior fit-out to healthcare standards. Civil works encompassed site grading, stormwater management, new water and hydro connections, and the construction of parking and accessible site features in accordance with municipal requirements.
Work completed during construction included:
- Site clearing, excavation, and base preparations
- Installation of underground servicing and utility connections
- Construction of foundations and structural framing
- Development of a two-storey wood-framed healthcare facility
- Full building envelope installation and interior fit-out
- Installation of mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems
- Construction of parking areas, access routes, and site finishes
