Cowichan Valley Medical Centre
Located at 6425 Norcross Road in the District of North Cowichan, this project encompassed the abatement and demolition of existing buildings on the site to accommodate approximately 22,000 sq ft of dedicated Island Health office space over a semi underground concrete parkade. Interior fit-up of the full building was completed to suit the tenant, Island Health, needs. The building layout includes clinic space, executive office space, multi-use meeting rooms, board rooms, and multiple workstations.
Tectonica led a team that successfully navigated the design requirements of the tenant, the District of North Cowichan approval processes, and met the desired timeline for occupancy set by the Island Health user groups. An infection control program was implemented during the construction phases from lock-up to completion in order to satisfy the requirements of the tenant for all designated clinic space.
Tectonica managed the project through a period of challenging escalation and supply chain constraints. With some creative solutions, frequent communication and updates from trades, the client and tenant, selective compromise allowed the tenant to execute their move-in plan on schedule.
