Ehthlateese Village – Rehabilitation
To provide habitable housing and infrastructure to their citizens living in and returning to their original village site, Uchucklesaht Tribe Government partnered with the federal government to replace 6 condemned homes with homes exceeding Step 3 of the BC Building Code. The project also involved upgrading the existing village infrastructure to support these and future homes. These works included:
- New water distribution system;
- New septic distribution and treatment system;
- New berm to improve climate change resiliency;
- Re-design of creek through village including re-shaping, armouring, 2 new vehicle crossings to improve climate change resiliency and address flooding risks;
- Improved communication system;
The project site is located on Kildonan Inlet at the south end of Henderson Lake, the wettest place in North America. The remote site and significant weather constraints demanded unique solutions to meet the design and construction schedule. The design and construction of the project was completed in under 9 months.
Tectonica Management Inc. provided Project Management and Construction Management services to design and construct the project. In this capacity Tectonica assumed responsibility for managing the consultants and all sub trades and suppliers
