Ehthlateese Village Short Term Stay Building
As part of the ongoing revitalization of the Historic Ehthlateese Village, the Uchucklesaht Tribe engaged Tectonica to renovate their existing short-term accommodation building to increase its capacity from 6 units to 15 to support their new wellness centre and visitors to the Village.
The project site is located on the Kildonan Inlet at the south end of Henderson Lake, known as the wettest place in North America. The remote site and significant weather constraints demanded unique solutions to meet the design and construction schedule. The combined design process and construction was completed in 1 year with the building exceeding an energy rating that exceeds Step 3 of the Building Code.
Work completed during construction includes:
- Selective deconstruction
- Re-framing to suit new layout and exterior decks
- New exterior insulated building envelope including doors & windows
- New variable flow refrigerant heat pump system
- New finishes throughout
