Nanaimo Urgent and Primary Care Clinic
Tectonica completed a full renovation and interior fit-up of a 10,000 sq. ft. office building—with a 5,000 sq. ft. underground parkade—for Island Health. The space was transformed to include clinical areas, offices, reception, consultation rooms, counselling space, and kitchen facilities.
Our team managed all aspects of the project, from design coordination and permitting to final occupancy, ensuring all work met Island Health’s strict operational and infection control standards. One challenge presented during the renovation were the tight space constraints for mechanical systems requiring careful planning and creative solutions.
Key highlights of the project included:
- Full interior demolition and rebuild, including fire damage repairs and asbestos abatement.
- Installation of modern HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire suppression systems.
- Structural upgrades, energy-efficient window installation, and exterior cladding replacement.
- Parkade security enhancements and a new dry pipe fire suppression system.
- Roof repairs and mechanical upgrades.
